Now only 12 days before surgery

I am becoming increasingly nervous about having this surgery. I am gonna do it but I can't help but play that game in my mind "what if". I can't stand that game. I feel very lucky that my daughter's best friends mom is an Ostomy nurse. What I am having is a Urostomy. When someone has surgery because their colon is no longer functioning right it is called a Colostomy. Most people who have their bladder removed is because of cancer. I am very thankful that is not the reason but still sad that I will no longer have a bladder. There are some things that you can do when you have a bag that you couldn't do before and that is stand up like a man does and pee!! lol!! I think I might have to try this next one someone told me about. She said "If your on a long trip and you don't want to stop you can carry a used coke/pepsi plastic bottle in the vehicle and just drain your pee into it". I just love that one!! Having a bag for a bladder doesn't keep you from doing things you want to do. Many people jog, play tennis, swim and many more things. The only thing you can't do is lift really heavy weights. Although I don't know why. I will have to find out why. After I have my surgery I hope that people do feel sorry for me because I have to wear a bag. I chose this because I want to take the pain away. By removing my bladder and my urethra I shouldn't have that type of pain anymore. I have heard of people having phantom pain. Because the nerves are still in pain mode. It usually always goes away over time. I really do pray that I don't have phantom pains. I will still have to deal with my Periphreal Neuropathy and IBS. Pain medicine can help with the PN but it also causes constipation so then you have to combat that. It is like a vicious cycle. I will have more to talk about tomorrow so please come back and read my blog. I hope no one finds it boring but I do hope you find it informative or just interesting. Thanks and good night!!
