Ostomy Nurse Appt,

Today I got a phone call for my Ostomy nurse appointment. Next Tuesday I will meet with my Ostomy nurse who will teach me how to change my bag. She will mark the spot for the place where my Stoma will be. A stoma is the opening in your abdomin where a small piece of intestine is used to make a conduit. A conduit is like a round tube. So a small piece of Intestine will poke out from my abdomen. The urine will now come out of the conduit and the part of the intestine that sticks out will be covered with the bag. I will have to decide on which bag I will use. There is a one piece and a two piece bag. I want the two piece. You can leave the sticky part on for longer. you just unhook the bag itself. The one piece has to be change out everyday. Here is a link for one of the manufacturers. I will explain more about how it all works tomorrow.
